Lead Instructor, Jason Bittner, and Senior Instructor: Andy Webster, currently teach the Free Range Kids classes. They want to inspire students by sharing what they learned in their own fascinating technology careers.
Jason says, “I’m passionate about sharing with these kids. It’s how I want to give back, my way of adding to the good karma of the universe. That moment when I see the lights go on and they get excited and inspired by something we teach them, it’s the best feeling in the world for me.”
Jason started “giving back” while he was in graduate school getting his masters degree in Aeronautical Engineering at the University of Toronto. He himself benefited from introductions to technology by his various mentors. “If I had not benefited from that exposure, I might not have gone into these technology fields and made the career choices I did.”
As an engineering student, he wanted to share what he was learning with younger kids. He wanted them to know what engineers do, “because they might not normally get to learn that as part of regular school.” He contacted local middle schools in Toronto and began “giving back” with hands-on technology sessions with students.
Free Range Kids Classes
Over the last five (5) years, Jason Bittner has informally taught their Free Range Kids classes to students in Bolton, Glastonbury, East Hartford, and Chicopee (MA) public schools. He brings both his engineering experiences and working technology demonstrations for an inspirational hands-on student experience.
Senior Instructor, Andy Webster, joined the FRK team in 2017 and added their energy and experiences to our FRK classrooms, giving students great insight into their potential future careers
